Advantages of Structured Cabling
    over Wireless

  • Wired networks have always been considered the more secure of the two network types. Unless you use a firewall and encryption technology, your wireless network is unsecured and vulnerable to outsiders.

  • Because of signal problems and variances in bandwidth, wireless networks are not as reliable as wired networks, which usually only drop a connection if a cable is loose.

  • Wireless networks cannot attain the same speeds as wired networks, which can be an issue for anyone working with large files. Although wireless has made a great improvement from the 802.11b standard to 802.11g, it still cannot match the speeds that are now being introduced by new advancements in cabling technology. With speeds now hitting around 10 gigabits per second with category 6 cabling, wireless can not keep up.
